Welcome to the Uralla RSL Sub Branch

19th May 2017

Neil was a proud and long-time member of the Returned and Services League of Australia where he was universally liked for his happy and cheerful disposition. He was called up for National Service in April 1953 and served with the 19th National Service Training Battalion. He was a Bandsman, rank of Private. Neil did his follow-up service with the 12/16th Hunter River Lancers and took his discharge in 1958.

He first joined the Uralla sub-Branch in March 1996 and maintained continuous membership until his death. During those 21 years, he served his sub-Branch in the positions of Committee man, Vice-President, Trustee and Treasurer. At various times he was also a District Council and State Congress delegate.

During his funeral service, the RSL tribute was conducted by Northern Country State Councillor, Mrs Sandra Lambkin. She said "When I first became involved in District Council, Neil was among the first of the delegates to welcome and support me. I valued his friendship and I will miss him."
